YEAR 7 TRANSFER FORMS NEED RETURNED TO BALLYTREA ON OR BEFORE FRIDAY 1ST FEBRUARY

26th Jan 2019

Parents will have had the opportunity to visit Post-Primary Schools on their recent Open Evenings and to view their admissions criteria on both our website and the EA website. Transfer forms were sent home earlier in January along with associated notes on how to complete the form but parents are still welcome to come into school to get support in completing the form if this is needed. In order for us to get all forms sent to EA in time for the February deadline, ALL TRANSFER FORMS SHOULD BE RETURNED TO BALLYTREA ON OR BEFORE FRIDAY 1ST FEBRUARY.

The Transfer Process

  • The Department of Education decides the number of pupils a school may admit.
  • Each Post-Primary school may only admit this number. If more pupils apply than a school has places available, then the school has to decide who to admit.
  • Each school chooses its own admissions criteria and these are published by the EA and also in the school prospectus of each school.

Role of Parents

Please ensure that you:

  1. Complete and return your child’s transfer form to Ballytrea by Friday 1ST FEBRUARY AT THE LATEST.
  2. State preferences for the schools where you would like your child to be considered.
  3. Select at least four preferred schools.
  4. Ensure all relevant information (relating to the admissions criteria of all schools listed) is correct and is provided when you complete the transfer form. Personal details including the address of your child must be accurate and the latter must be the child’s normal place of residence. When relevant to an admissions decision, declaration of free school meals registration will be checked by the EA and other important qualifying information will be checked by over-subscribed Post-Primary schools in accordance with the Departments Duty to Verify guidance.
