Museum Trip 5th November for P.3, 4 and 5. We had a wonderful time!

4th Nov 2021

We visited the museum to learn about Egypt and to see the mummy called Takabuti. We got to handle artefacts 3000 years old and real papyrus paper. We saw a papyrus plant and some canopic jars and learned more about the mummification process. We discovered that the mummy had been a young woman who was sadly murdered before her burial all those years ago. While we were there we also visited exhibits about prehistoric Ireland and life in Ireland around 1000 years ago when the vikings were raiding. We saw the famous Ballyclog bell found on The Johnston’s farm at Curglasson along with other finds from the site. Curglasson and Ballyclog have an exhibit all to themselves! Everyone got to hold the extremely heavy replica bell. We saw reproductions of animals found in Ireland thousands of years ago, such as grizzly bears, wolves and wild boar. It was amazing!
