🌟 DIFFERENT, NOT LESS 🌟

This evening, Buddy 🧸 is off on his travels to stay with Mia (P6) 😊

In school this week, we have been talking to some of the children about Autism, and about being different - to support World Autism Awareness Week.

We talked about how we all have different strengths and weaknesses, how we all express our emotions in different ways and how some people may react differently in certain social situations.

As the kids in school know, my youngest daughter Sophia has autism, and so this week is close to my heart.

The kids in school regularly ask about the adventures Sophia has been on, as well as about some of the difficult days she has had.

However, there is one young girl in particular, Mia, who day and daily asks about and talks about Sophia.

Mia is aware that Sophia and children with autism may be different, but she shows empathy and compassion, she is kind and she always wants to know how Sophia is doing!

She will never go home, without asking how Sophia got on at school that day.

Each morning, the first thing she always asks is if Sophia slept well the night before.

She draws pictures to give to Sophia.

She even asked if Sophia could come to school with her some day!

Mia, those traits of kindness and compassion, are exactly how we said Buddy would act, and you really deserve to be taking him home this week.

Nothing says more about a person than how they treat others. Mia, what a kind and caring young girl you are!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with Buddy! 🧸
